Due to the upsurge in door-to-door salesmen, thieves looking to check out your house, and other annoyances, you may every now and then believe that answering your door isn’t worth it. When you do in the end answer your door and find a door-to-door salesman, you may have an extremely rough time getting free of them. They will continue to hassle you and persist coming back until you aid their group or buy one of their “inventive” products.

To thwart this from happening and curb unasked for company from bothering you, you should use a defensive wall between your door and the street. You don’t in reality need a 15 ft. high electric fence, as even the most basic form of fencing will accomplish the job. You can establish a strightforward ornamental fence around your yard, complete with locking entrance, to keep any kind of solicitors out.

While a fence is a great way to get privacy, not eevry person has a yard that they can erect a fence on. You can additionally use a gate that blocks entry to your porch or front door. The most important idea and philosophy here is to make it problamatic to come up to the door to your home. This way, salesman, solicitors, and even snoops will understand that it requires a great deal of struggle to grasp you – and they will in general just give up and move on.

Even though a fence or locked gate are fantistic, you can’t forget a dog also. A barking dog can be very effective, as trespassers basically can’t ignore a dog that is barking. Barking dogs aren’t the same as a fence or gate, while they are extremely ordinary these days. Keep in mind nontheless, that the value of a dog with scaring off uninvited visitors will greatly depend on the disposition and spirit of the dog you have.

Nearly every dog will bark when it sees a visitor, although not every dog will prevent someone from coming to your door unless it has been taught to do so. A number of of door-to-door salesman and snoops deal with dogs on a day by day basis, and will typically just pay no attention to the dog and the barking, then proceed to your door. If the dog is more of a violent nature and seems prepared to launch an attack, then it will be a different story. If the salesman or snoop sees that the dog is ready to bite, he will as a rule stop in his tracks and leave – out of the anxiety of getting bit.

As irritating as door-to-door solicitors are, there are ways that you can upgrade your defense and your solitude around your house. You can also invest in home surveillance systems as well, to further boost your privacy and security. For solicitors, fencing with a locked gate is the best way to go, if you have the area for it. Also, if you don’t have the area for a fence, you can always use a dog or other options. Privacy and security are very important – which is why you don’t want solicitors invading your space.

If you are interested in defending your residence with a camera system, you should initially grasp the concepts of the technology. There are quite a lot of home surveillance systems to pick from, making it in your best interest to discover all you can. Most systems aren’t difficult to install or monitor – providing you have the right guidebook to assist you.

No matter how hard you may try, it can be virtually impossible to ask the precise questions or carry out your goals without first finding yourself overwhelmed by possibility. There are numerous alternatives and “what if’s” to any home surveillance system. Selecting which type system is right for you can be a tad easier, if you be knowledgeable about what they offer and which one will work the best for you.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) and several other types of electronic devices are much more ordinary these days, and easier to run than ever before. They are also more reasonably priced as well, and becoming more and more popular with homeowners the world over. The basics behind closed circuit systems lets you know that the signals the camera picks up aren’t transmitted through the air, but instead transmitted straight to the monitor, which can be watched from nigh on anywhere – at anytime.

If you discover more of the basic concepts involved with home surveillance systems, you can make more sense of the language when you converse to salesmen and others in the trade. If you aren’t familiar with none of the technology or systems at hand, you won’t know what the salesmen or others are talking about when you inquire about your home surveillance system.

Therefore, you should continuously strive to learn as much as you can about the terms and subjects of home surveillance. It’s in fact easier than you may think, as long as you keep it easy. Once you have constructed the foundation, you’ll find it much easier to learn more.

The first thing you should know is that the camera is responsible for all images that are seen on the monitor or captured. The performance of the camera will differ on the reflected light present on the area that you are surveying, the quality of the components that you are using, and the overall performance of the camera. Some cameras are high quality, while others can be very deficient.

Overall quality with a home surveillance system however, will greatly depend on the weakest link of the chain. To get the most from your system, you should at all times make sure that each and every component is of the equal quality. This way, you can get excellent display images without having to worry about trashy quality. If you do your research and evaluate, you can get fantastic quality at incredibly affordable prices.

Pepper spray has many uses. Law enforcement agencies employ pepper spray for crowd control purposes. Unfortunately, it has come under study is some places because there have been some deaths that may have been attributed to the use of pepper spray. The military of many countries still rely on some form of pepper spray as part of their arsenal as a non-lethal weapon.

Pepper spray has long been used to stave off ferocious animals like dogs and bears. Hikers and campers take some with them just in case they happen to come across an irate bear. Just make sure you use pepper spray that is designed as an animal repellent.

Pepper spray is also used as a personal defense device. The use of pepper spray as a non-lethal weapon can mean the difference between being attacked or not. Or in the worse case, the difference between life and death.

The effects of pepper spray are very unpleasant but are not long-lasting. A person who has been spray with pepper spray will suffer from:

restricted breathing

a runny nose

relentless coughing

intense burning sensation

temporary blindness that can last thirty to forty-five minutes

The primary use of pepper spray is to control a situation. Once you control, it gives you the ability to gain the upper hand and retreat from the situation. Granted, there are some controversies surrounding the use of pepper spray as a deterrent. But the bottom line is pepper spray is a very powerful non-lethal weapon to help keep you safe from harm.

The laws on the use of pepper spray in the United States contrast by county and state. Contact your local law enforcement agency before you purchase pepper spray and learn the rules of its use. The same applies for other countries.

Video surveillance has become a topic of discussion between business owners, both large and small. Depending on the size of your business, the video surveillance system you use may differ. Cctv (closed circuit TV) systems are equivalent systems that were once the benchmark of the video surveillance industry. They are now more costly to maintain and install than IP (Internet Protocol) video surveillance systems. IP video cameras are easy to install because they allow for flexibility with bandwidth and pricing. IP video surveillance is the future of the video surveillance industry and they are easily available. IP video cameras can be monitored by your computer system or viewed off-site via the Internet.

Installing a video surveillance system in your business will lessen the chances of break-ins or robberies. If a burglary or robbery occurs, the recorded images can used to help identify the suspect(s). Surveillance equipment will also help the owners and employees feel a little more secure.

When installing surveillance cameras, you must be very diligent in their placement. You have to respect the privacy of your employees and customers. Installing cameras in restrooms or dressing rooms is strictly prohibited and should be avoided. Use of hidden cameras is allowed in a business but I would post a sign stating so.

Consider installing an outdoor surveillance camera system. Scanning the parking lot or the rear of the business will also aid in crime prevention or maybe assist local law enforcement in solving criminal activity.

Thanks to today’s technology, video surveillance systems are very affordable and are extremely easy to install. It is an inexpensive crime prevention tool that every business owner should not be without.

Personal protection comes in many forms. When I talk about personal protection, I am referring to an individual’s inherited right to defend one’s self against bodily harm. Learning and applying self-defense tactics or weapons against would-be assailants is an individual choice and decision, according to his or her belief and abilities.

The first step in providing for your own personal defense is to put it into your mind. You have to want to protect yourself and to exhibit an air of confidence that you could defend yourself should you find yourself under a physical attack. You do not have to be a trained martial artist to achieve this goal. You simply have to make up your mind to prepare yourself for any situation.

Situational Awareness -Always be aware of your surroundings at all times and have a plan of attack if something unexpected happens. Use this in every walk of your life and this will make you a little safer.

Depending on an individual’s desire and physical ability, adding some type of personal defense device would bolster an impressive line of defense against criminals. I’m talking about non-lethal defense weapons such as, stun guns, pepper sprays and personal alarms.

Self defense devices come in various shapes and sizes. There are stun batons, stun rings, stun flashlights, stun guns that look like cell phones and pagers, lipstick pepper spray and stun gun, keychain pepper spray and the list goes on and on. For those passive individuals, there are personal alarms that emit loud sounds to attract attention and hopefully scare off an intruder.

Whether you walk, jog, ride a bike or do a lot of camping, the need for personal protection is getting greater. Just today I saw on the news where a shop owner thwarted a robbery by spraying pepper spray at the robber which totally reversed the situation. I love it!

Once you have made up your mind that you are going to defend yourself (like the store owner), choose the best defense option for you. Whether it is learning martial arts or buying a self defense weapon, remember, to instill confidence you have to practice and know what capabilities each exhibit.

Building a security system for the home requires dividing the premises into two defensive areas or zones: the outside and the inside. In this article I will talk about the outside, mainly the outer perimeter.

If you own a home, you need to consider some type of perimeter security system. This could range from an extravagant, expensive security alarm system to a gated fence. Protecting the outer perimeter is your first line of defense against unwanted intruders. Your budget will determine what type of system you will rely on for home protection.

One of your options is a simple, inexpensive driveway alarm system that will work with any residence. Most homes have some type driveway and placing a driveway alarm here will let you know if someone is driving onto your premises. A driveway alarm will serve many purposes by giving you the advantage by not getting caught off guard. Long driveways are particular targets for home invaders and should be addressed as such.

Children left alone playing in the front yard are easy prey for child snatchers. If a criminal enters your premises through your driveway or if a child leaves the yard via the driveway, the motion alarm will immediately warn you.

Don’t have a driveway? Place the alarm on a walkway or door entrance area. These alarms are wireless and are easy to set up. Driveway alarms are ideal for child monitoring and pool safety.

Driveway alarms are also great for small businesses by alerting you when a delivery person arrives or when someone drives up while you are in the back of the store.

Home invasions are not limited to the big cities. They occur throughout the countryside and you need to make sure that you take every precaution in protecting your home and family from criminals.

Keeping an eye on things at home while you were on a trip or vacation was easier said than done many years ago. However, the combination of the Internet and today’s technology – keeping tabs on your home while you’re away is rather feasible. You can spy on your home no matter how far away you are.

To many people, the technology may sound a bit unusual but it is actually very attainable. The equipment used for surveillance has become reasonably priced and quite user-friendly. All it takes is someone with a bit of common sense and an Internet connection.

The Internet is the center of a real-time surveillance system which enables you to keep a check on your home from hundreds of miles away. Investing in an Internet-powered surveillance system will require you to make sure that you can get a high speed Internet connection to your home. The speeds of a dial-up connection will not allow the transmission of video images.

There are several solutions that a home owner can employ to install a surveillance camera system. A typical surveillance system requires a camera(s) and a DVR. Most DVR’s today has full networking capability allowing the video to be viewed across the Internet. The camera(s) can also be connected directly to a computer. The computer will play back the video via the monitor, and record the video to the hard disk drive or removable USB device. You’ll need to connect the computer to the Internet through your local Internet Service Provider (ISP) in order to view the video from a different location and in real time.

Another solution is to install an IP (Internet Protocol) camera. IP cameras can plug directly into your computer or DVR and use an IP address to transmit video through a network using Ethernet cable, requiring less hardware. This method is comparable to a webcam, in that it streams video around the clock.

There are pro and cons on any system you may choose. However, the more common advantages in today’s camera systems are the user-friendly hardware and the cost effectiveness. Some pitfalls are Internet down times or poor Internet connection. I would highly recommend a wired DVR system that has Internet capability. If the Internet should go down, the DVR will still record activity that can be viewed later. Portable phones and other devices can interrupt wireless camera transmissions. Wireless surveillance systems are also pricey.

Investing in a home surveillance system that utilizes the Internet, does not have to be an expensive nor a laborious venture. Technological advances had made it very easy to keep an eye on your home while you are on vacation.

Nothing is more traumatic, disappointing, or downright disgusting than returning home from a hard earned break and finding your home burglarized. Breaking and entering is a common occurrence these days and becoming more frequent. When you go on a vacation, you shouldn’t have to agonize over the situation back home. Your retreat should be peaceful, without having to fret about everything. You can help to reduce the risk of something going amiss if you only prepare before you go on your vacation.

One way to protect your home from break-ins is by hiring a house sitter. All you need to do is hire a trusted person who will go by your residence daily or stay there the whole time. If you have pets at your house, you may want to employ a house sitter to care for your animals as well as your home. In most cases, peace of mind is worth the cost.

If you are unable to obtain the services of a house sitter, you should make every effort to make your residence appear as if somebody is living there. Try to get a neighbor whom you trust to keep an eye on your place. Don’t forget to leave a phone number for someone to contact you for questions or to report activity.

You can buy a variety of timers that will make it look as if someone is in your home. Radio and light timers are great in making criminals believe somebody is at home. You should always cut lawn before you leave, and have someone else cut it for you if you are going to be gone for more than a week. If the grass is too high, people will speculate if anyone is home. .

Have someone pick up your mail as well. If the mail starts to stack up in your container, criminals will know that no one is home. You should always make sure that your doors and windows are locked and that you leave a spare key with a trusted friend or family member.

When the trusted sitter comes by your home to check on things, they should turn the lights and television on in the evening. He or she should inspect the inside of your home, and if anything is out of the ordinary, contact the police. They should look for things like broken windows or doors and disturbed furniture.

Whether you have hired a house sitter or rely on a trusted friend to keep on eye on your home and belongings, make the most of your very important vacation by taking the necessary preparations before you leave.

Pepper spray is an organic based agent that comes from cayenne peppers. Also referred to as an OC or capsicum spray, pepper spray is a very effective inflammatory agent that can easily irritate the eyes and result in pain, temporary blindness, and tears.

Once a person is sprayed with pepper spray it will immediately:

dilate the capillaries in the eyes, resulting in temporary blindness

chocking

coughing

tearing of the eyes

intense burning on the skin

nausea

mucous membranes will swell, making breathing very difficult

The spray is very painful and causes temporary incapacitation, due to the fact that the individual won’t be able to breathe or see properly.

Pepper sprays are:

used in controlling riots

used in self defense situations

non-lethal

great to have around your home

great carry with you at all times

illegal to have in some countries, such as the United Kingdom

illegal to have in some states or cities in the United States

There have been rare cases where pepper spray has lead to death. However, in these cases, there were medical conditions present that the spray aggravated. I also believe that if you are being attacked and you have pepper spray, you use it. As long as it is legal to carry pepper spray where you are at the time and you are protecting yourself or a loved one, you have a legal right to use pepper spray as a protection device.

Pepper sprays are very popular self protection devices and are easily concealed. They are very inexpensive and easy to use. The biggest element in carrying any self defense weapon is being not afraid to use it. Practice pulling out the spray in an imaginary situation; know how it operates so that you can deploy it in seconds without thinking about it. Keep it handy in your purse, in your vehicle, inside your home (next to doors and bed), in your business or while you are jogging. Works great on dogs too!
